Call for Database Fair Presenters

Deadline: 15 August 2013
Notification of Acceptance: Rolling

> Submit online at http://www.icsbgw.org/database_presentations

Thursday, 17 October 2013 will be organized as a database fair. Each exhibitor will be provided with a table with appropriate power and internet access. Conference participants will be invited to browse, meet, and talk with those presenting their data bases. Distribution of material, brochures, handouts, CDs, memory sticks, is encouraged. An adjacent room will be set aside for presentations and each database exhibitor will be assigned a 20 minute slot to make a general presentation on their database. The presentation room will have standard equipment for PowerPoint presentations. Those that would like to provide a 4-6 hour workshop on their database on Saturday should contact the conference organizers so an appropriate venue can be arranged.

The setting and the audience would be particularly interested in data bases that:

  • Represent some aspect (broadly defined) of the business creation or entrepreneurial processes
  • Have full and complete documentation or sampling procedures, interview schedules, and structure of the data sets
  • Are available in standard forms (SAS, SPSS, Stata, Excel, etc.)
  • Are based on samples that represent a well defined population of entrepreneurs, business owners, or start-up, new or growth firms.

All data sets that meet one criterion will be included:

  1. The research community can have access to some version of the database—free, for a fee, or though special arrangements.

A two (2) page description is required for inclusion in conference packets. Database exhibitors will be considered presenters with regards to registration fees. A standard audio-visual set-up will be available for the presentation. Presentation slides will be made available to all participants.
